This sport is not without its dangers and new paddlers must be reasonably fit before they commence the sport of outrigger canoeing.

Health & Safety prerequisites are : all paddlers are competent swimmers and can demonstrate a 200 metre swim unaided by a Personal Floatation Device.

Capsize training is required before venturing from the Patterson Lakes river mouth into the open sea.

A one-off Indemnity Form must be completed by all new paddlers.
